Egg Crate Factory

On Thursday, April 2, 2009, two-thirds of YURT went to the Hartmann-MAI factory in the Old Industrial Area of Netanya. We purchased six packages of 140 17 lb egg cartons. The factory was currently producing 20 lb cartons, so we were given another 50 cartons of that size as a bonus.
The factory is owned by Hartmann, a company based in Denmark. They are one of the companies responsible for placing and servicing the paper recycling receptacles around Israel. Paper is retrieved, mashed into pulp, purified and treated chemically. It is then shaped on a mold and fired in an oven for twenty minutes. The company also produces berry trays and bedpans for hospital use. In other countries, it makes high-end egg cartons as well.
